Krista Eyler is [ set apart ].
"I'm a Christian singer/songwriter; an instrument of peace and life. A mom of two, a wife
to one, a fully-devoted follower of Christ."
Indeed, Krista Eyler is all of those things and more. She is a beautiful creation both inside
and out. She's real. She's deep. And she's lots and lots of fun. We can't wait for you to get
to know her. Get a glimpse into her heart below.
What is/are your creative passion(s)?
I was born with passion for music. I compose original works of music and I believe I've been called to be a singer. I also love to play guitar and piano.
How are you using your creative gifts?
I own a company called Funky Mama Music and I write and perform original rock n' roll
for families across the Midwest. I perform between 70-100 shows a year as my mommy-schedule allows!
Writing musicals is also a passion of mine, but my heart music lies in works of worship.
I compose original praise music and offer those songs in services at my church or worship events as the Holy Spirit leads. I love to help lead worship services or offer my gifts in
music in whatever way is glorifying to God.
What message do you try to communicate in your creative work?
In family music, it's all about clean lyrics, fun, rhythm and getting children dancing!
In worship music, most of my sacred tunes are prayerful. I try to write from the Word
and with authenticity. I try to offer to others what the Lord is speaking to me through
What is your ideal environment for creating?
Nighttime affords much needed moments of quiet in my very busy home, but I've written
songs for worship anywhere at any time of day. I just try to always be listening to what the Lord wants me to learn and then share.
Where do you get your inspiration?
For worship, inspiration mostly comes from scripture or if I am experiencing something powerful that I have learned through conversations or life experience, I try to offer it to others.
Who has been a great influence on your life?
My family has a profound influence on my life always. My sisters in Christ at Colonial Presbyterian Church have impacted my spiritual walk immeasurably. They are the most wonderfully funny, wise, beautiful, dynamic and spiritual women I have ever met.
Describe the ultimate opportunity in your line of work.
Only God knows what is in store for my professional path, but I have really been clinging
to this verse from I Chronicles 9:33: "Now these are the singers, heads of fathers' households of the Levites, who lived in the chambers of the temple free from other service; for they
were engaged in their work day and night." I want to be engaged in the "work" of worship day and night, so whatever opportunity holds that dream, and if I'm supposed to go for it,
I pray for Holy Spirit wisdom and God's "yes" to pursue it.
What advice do you have for other artists and creatives on their journey?
I don't know if I'm one to give advice, and I have taken many strange steps in my journey,
but am grateful for each one because each has refined me, my loves, my passions, my
dreams. I suppose I would just say once you are in your "calling," you will know it deep in
your core because it will be where you are the most satisfied and happy. You can actually
feel His anointing in those awesome moments or opportunities. It may not be where you
will make the most money (or any money), that's for sure, but you bear much spiritual fruit
to give to others. I read that God's dream for us isn't really for us or about us, it's placed in
us to bless others. I love that.
What would you do for Jesus if you knew he wouldn't let you fail?
I already know He won't let me fail unless it's something I have chosen to do without asking
His permission or for His blessing. The inevitable "failing" would be for my teaching, so
I can't really fail in Christ. I would do whatever He called me to do, and if any of us are in
a holy calling, we can only succeed in Christ.

"Your colors are pink and pink."

Who makes you laugh out loud?
My best friend (Not just out loud, but
snorting is often involved, too. Not pretty.)
