Significance :: TRUE NORTH
Sometimes we know where we are going,
but we don’t know exactly how to get there.
So we make a plan.
We make all kinds of plans to get where we want to go in life:
lesson plans, game plans, vacation plans and business plans.
But sometimes things don’t go as planned,
and we encounter obstacles along the way.
Obstacles that challenge our choices.
Obstacles that change our direction.
Obstacles that chisel our faith.
But perhaps the very steps that led us to those obstacles in the first place
were the steps that would ultimately lead us to Him.
God knows how to get us where we’re going.
“We can make our plans,
but the LORD
determines our steps.”
So let God lead.
Let Him handle the hurdles.
Let Him redeem the roadblocks.
Let Him make blessings out of the barricades.
And before you take your next step,
let Him lead you in the right direction:

Contributing Artists :: Students, Staff & Families
Prior to creating this artwork, students, staff and families from Calvary Lutheran School were invited to cover the wall with written prayers, scriptures and blessings to form a foundation for the artwork. Hundreds of people contributed. Play the slideshow at the left to read some of them.

Follow the Progress :: The Creative Process
The creative process used in forming this mixed-media art installation is an artistic metaphor for the way God refines His people. He sees potential rather than waste. He takes what we may deem ugly and useless, and transforms it into something beautiful and useful...if we let Him.

A Note from the Principal
"What a joy it is every day to walk by the artwork that you so skillfully designed and created. It is a witness to everyone who enters our doors and a great memory for our children who were able to write personalized prayers on the wall. Thank you so much for all your work, dedication, and witness through your artwork. You have been such a blessing to us here at Calvary. It was great getting to know you and working with you. I pray for God's richest blessings for you as you continue your ministry through art."
